Tickets for Riccardo Chailly at Teatro alla Scala in Milan

The season opens with a programme of rare beauty and principal conductor Riccardo Chailly: the music of Igor’ Stravinsky is accompanied by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 5 in E minor. The concert opens with a new commission from the Filarmonica della Scala to Giorgio Battistelli for its fortieth anniversary. This is followed by the two Suites, written between 1917 and 1925, for which Stravinsky adapts some easy pieces for the piano to the timbres of a reduced orchestra. A few years earlier, in 1910, it was the expressive power of the rhythmic impulse that guided him in the creation of the Oiseau de feu, one of his best-loved masterpieces, of which the Philharmonic performs the Suite for orchestra of 1919. The second part features one of the pinnacles of Tchaikovsky’s symphonism.
