Macbeth is a four-act opera by Giuseppe Verdi, the Italian script is written by Francesco Maria Piave, Andrea Maffey is based on William Shakespeare’s play of the same name. This is Verdi’s tenth opera, premiered on March 14, 1847. This is the first Shakespeare play adapted by Verdi for the opera stage. Nearly 20 years later, ‘Macbeth’ was revised and expanded in the French version, and was published in Paris on April 19, 1865.

After Attila’s success in 1846, Macbeth achieved great success between 1851 and 1853 (jester, travelogue, and La Traviata), which made him famous. As a source of information, Shakespeare’s plays provided Verdi with lifelong inspiration: some of them, such as adaptations from ‘King Lear’ (such as ‘King Lear’) have never been realized, but he used Othello (1887) and ‘The Merry Wife’ wrote his last two operas, Windsor, as the basis for Falstaff (1893).
