Carmen is a dramatic opera in four acts with music by Georges Bizet and Regia Franco Zeffirelli and libretto in French by Ludovic Halévy and Henri Meilhac, based on the novel Carmen by Prosper Mérimée, first published in 1845, which in turn was possibly influenced by Aleksandr Pushkin’s narrative poem The Gypsies (1824). The opera was commissioned by Rossini by Francesco Sforza Cesarini, manager of his family’s patron theatre (today’s Argentine Theatre), produced by his grandfather Zhu Sepe Sforza was built in 1732. In December 1815, Francesco Sforza Cesarini struck a deal with Gioraccino Rossini, who was 23 at the time, to create a cheerful and playful musical to be released in 1816. Performed at a carnival, but died on February 16, 1816, a few days before the ‘premiering’. However, Il barbiere’s performance happened anyway.
Rossini’s opera premiered on February 20, during the Carnival of 1816, at the Argentine Torre Theatre (today’s Argentine Theatre) in Rome, titled Almaviva or L’inutile precauzione (as a tribute to Giovanni · Pescello’s Barbiere di Tribute sign) Siviglia[1] of 1782), but was overwhelmed by a storm of protest. In fact, many supporters of the ‘old’ master Pisiello in the audience wanted the opera to fail. But the next day, at the second show, the night turned into an equally resounding victory. Rossini’s operas soon overshadowed Pescello, becoming not only Pesaro’s most famous composer, but also a figurehead in the opera world. For example, in 1905, the famous tenor Angelo Massini decided to end his career at Il barbiere di Siviglia.
Still one of the most performed theatres in the world, the opera is also famous for its Overture, one of Rossini’s most famous overtures. Now the opera Il Barbiere di Siviglia will be performed in the magnificent Arena di Verona so book your tickets to experience the Barber of Seville Opera at the Arena di Verona which will transform the Roman amphitheatre into the large garden designed by Hugo de Ana, enriched by the entertaining choreography of Leda Lojodice and characterised by striking gigantic roses.

Tickets for the Opera Tosca by Giacomo Puccini, from July 29 to September 1, 2023 at the Arena di Verona
Tosca is an opera in three acts, composed by Giacomo Puccini with an Italian script by Luigi Ilica and Giuseppe Giacosa. 2 It had its successful premiere on 14 January 1900 at the Costanzi Theatre in Rome. The text of this work is based on Victorien Sardou’s drastic play La Tosca, performed in Paris in 1887, in which the great actress Sarah Bernhardt performed there. Book the best tickets at the best price on our website to see one of the masterpieces of opera in a performance that you will not want to miss.
Tosca is considered one of the most representative operas of the Italian real repertoire, due to its dramatic intensity and the inclusion of some of the most beautiful arias in the repertoire. The plot combines love, intrigue, violence, passion and death. It belongs to Puccini’s most famous opera trio, along with Madame Butterfly and La Bohème.
Musically, the work follows a style previously developed by Puccini: a continuity of musical discourse, interrupted only by one or two arias. The most striking scene is Te Deum at the end of the first act and the arias Vissi d’arte (Tosca) and E lucevan le stelle (Mario). The second act is dramatic, with an intensity unmatched by any of Puccini’s other works.
The action took place in Rome on June 14, 1800, when Napoleon defeated the Austrians led by General Michael von Melas at the Battle of Marengo. Now the opera Tosca will be performed in the magnificent Arena di Verona so book your tickets to experience the Tosca Opera at the Arena di Verona in a night that you will never forget.

Although Domingo has performed as lyric tenor for most of his career, he’s also played parts for dramatic tenors. Among the over 150 roles he’s played, his performances as Otello and Simon Boccanegra are most prominent.
But besides his talent for bel canto, he has also enjoyed some success singing Latin and popular music: he’s won 14 Grammy Awards and has sold thousands of copies of his CDs around the world. He has also starred in many films, almost always under the direction of Franco Zeffirelli.
The peak of his career came in 1990 when he joined his tenor colleagues Luciano Pavarotti and José Carreras to create The Three Tenors. Their first record was the best-selling album in the history of lyric music.

Tickets for the Opera Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini, from August 12 to September 7, 2023 at the Arena di Verona
Madama Butterfly (Madame Butterfly) is an opera by Giacomo Puccini in three acts (originally two acts) with Italian lyrics by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa. Book the best tickets at the best price on our website to see one of the masterpieces of opera in a performance that you will not want to miss.
It is based on John Luther Lang’s short story ‘Madame Butterfly’ (1898), which in turn was based on a story told to Lang by his sister Jeanne Correll, and Pierre Lotti’s 1887 The semi-autobiographical French novel ‘Madame Chrysanthemum’ was adapted. Long’s version was dramatized by David Velasco as the one-act play Madame Butterfly: A Japanese Tragedy, which moved to London after its New York premiere in 1900, and Pucci Ni in that year.
The original version of the opera in two acts premiered on February 17, 1904 at La Scala in Milan. Despite starring famous singers such as soprano Rosina Storcchio, tenor Giovanni Zenatello and baritone Giuseppe De Luca, it received a poor reception. This was partly due to Puccini’s late finish, not having enough time for rehearsals. Puccini modified the opera, splitting the second act into two parts, the humming chorus forming the bridge to the third act, and making other modifications. The success started, starting with its premiere in Brescia on May 28, 1904.
